Plan ahead and avoid heavy traffic on I-70 for Labor Day Weekend

Change your Peak Time initiative

avoid rush hour traffic

The last weekend of the summer is officially here, so if you’re planning on spending Labor Day weekend up in the mountains, make sure to plan ahead your return and avoid the peak time traffic.

Since the summer traffic on eastbound I-70 can get as bad as it does in winter, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the I-70 Coalition are continuing the popular Change Your Peak Time reminders, incentives and deals through Labor Day.

This initiative aims to encourage motorists to avoid peak time by extending their fun in the mountains, instead of sitting in traffic. You can even take advantage of the Peak Time Deals offered for you to stick around longer, or make a Sunday overnight stay a bit easier and cheaper. There is also a CDOT Mobile app available for you to receive the most up-to-date and accurate travel information, which you can download from the Go I-70 website.

After all, our beautiful Colorado Mountains are hard to say good bye to, especially if you go on your custom Phoenix Pop Up Truck Camper! So go ahead and enjoy the Colorado summer just a little bit longer, explore what the mountains have to offer and avoid driving between 1 and 7 pm on your way back.
