Ready for Mother Nature’s spectacular autumn show?
There’s no better occasion to see the dynamic colors of multiple trees than along highways, country roads and coastlines. So let’s head out to the forests in your custom truck camper and take advantage of the most beautiful time of year. Here are some amazing drives inside the U.S.
Detroit – Algonac – Lake Orion – Port Huron
From Motor City, the home of the Motown Sound is the starting point for a 195-mile fall color route that skirts three waterways to the maritime city of Port Huron, and rolls through historic Southeast Michigan towns with connections to three pop music stars. The month of October is prime for viewing autumn hues at a variety of parks, and stopping to taste seasonal treats at cider mills along the way.
Skyline Drive – Shenandoah National Park
The Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is a 2-day journey that should be on everybody’s must-see list. The Skyline Drive runs 105 miles north and south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park and is the only public road through the park. You’ll have the opportunity to pull off the road at 69 scenic overlooks and take part in an array of recreational activities – from hiking, horseback riding, to rock climbing.
Adirondack Mountains
Adirondack Mountains are a great place to visit to see gorgeous Fall colors. With 46 high peaks, and over 6 million acres, you can find all kinds of activities and places to see in your RV.
Grand Junction – Grand Mesa – Colorado River
Rocky Mountain States are perfect for enjoying the Fall foliage. I-70 from Grand Junction heading east to Grand Mesa, following the Colorado River, is bright gold as the Aspen trees change. It’s a short but splendid window of opportunity to see Aspen and the Rocky Mountains before they become the winter ski capital of the world.
West Elk Loop – Gunnison National Forest
This is an impressive drive through Colorado’s West Elk Mountains. The drive travels along rivers, canyons, and takes you through the breathtaking aspen groves of Gunnison National Forest which is the largest aspen grove in the United States.
So, before you encase your camper truck in its winter storage, and before you head for the deserts of the Southwest for the winter… head out on a road trip with your love ones and enjoy the spectacular colors from the road.
