Yes, you read it right. We were contacted by a prospective customer who asked if we could build a camper to fit his 6’9″ height in both the pop up height and bed length, and of course we answered YES! Of course we can! So we proceeded to build a Custom Pop up Camper for this very nice gentleman who we had only communicated with via email and over the phone. We knew his name was Nate, he currently resides in MA and was originally from right here in CO, and that he would be happy to pick up the camper out here while spending some time seeing family and friends.
When he came to pick up his camper, Nate was happy to fit into his own camper and stand up straight without hitting his head and sleep without his feet hanging over the end of the bed. We however were excited when we realized that he is the Nate Solder, 2011 first round draft pick from CU, Offensive Tackle for the New England Patriots! Nate is truly one of the most humble down to earth people I have ever met!
We are so happy we are here to be able to fill that little niche that folks need when it comes to customizing their camper to fit their own individual needs!
This camper went out a couple of weeks ago to this great family of four. Here is what they had to say:
“Hello Cari – So far we have had 2 nights in the camper and everything has worked great. I bet Rob didn’t know he was designing a slide for 2 little boys on the passenger side of the truck camper. But it took Tanner and Casey no time to enjoy that feature and yeah I use it too. I am very glad I went for my inverter, charge controller, and solar system installed. We have to used the heater the last 2 nights. Takes 1 minute of running to heat the entire camper and truck up for the night.
Last night we stopped in north platte and found the cody campground. We decided in 10 minutes we are staying here if we go through north platte again. 5 bucks to camp. water hookups. A free zoo with plenty of animals to feed. I liked seeing buffalo and feeding the giant male elk. Told the donkey I loved him in shrek. They also have an amusement park with .50 cent rides and a restaurant with strawberry soft serve ice cream. Right now we have lots of geese and a river in our backyard. Tanner and Casey are playing with lego cars in that backyard. It will be hard to top this camping spot. But I will continue to look. Before we left Denver one of our stops for the boys was the lego store. The set Tanner got was a lego camper. Gee wonder why. I made breakfast yesterday and melinda today. So much cheaper travelling with your own hotel and restaurant with gas at 3.50 plus. We went to the rockies game in Denver. My 12th major league stadium now. Great stadium, great area for the boys, really friendly people, sat next to a guy from sioux city also in town for the weekend. But horrible team. No wonder your hockey fans. Go Gophers!”
Our Custom Bamboo camper that went out recently caught the eye of a well-known RV traveler and blogger who always has great stories and adventures. Here is a link to the blog about the Phoenix and from there you can catch up on other wonderful stories:
Thanks for a great little piece! Happy Camping and safe travels.
Day 2 here at the Overland Expo and we have had a very successful and fun time so far and there is still another day to go! SO many awesome vehicles, supplies and wonderful people! Tonight we will join our friends with Equipt Expedition Outfitters at their space of an “End of the World” Party. Tomorrow we install the camper we brought to the show on to its new home a Toyota Tacoma! Take a look at pictures of all the fun
As promised, here are the three custom COLORFUL campers that went to their new homes last week. The Army green will be going on a 42 Dodge Army truck and heading on a convoy up to Alaska beginning in Green Bay WI with other Vintage Army vehicles in June. A Dark grey Nissan Frontier and the Silver Tacoma both headed back to Utah. I will be sharing each of their adventure pictures as they come in!
“Rob, I have been negligent in letting you know how much Krista and I have enjoyed our camper. We first took a shake down weekend run to Camp Dick up Hwy 72. Yes the campground was crowded, and we were able to show the camper to a couple of families who all went ooooh, aaah…
We are stopped all the time to ask about our camper! The men just go nuts over how compact it is.
Hi Everyone, I finally worked and grouped photos from our recent trip to Colorado where we picked up our new camper and had it installed on our Toyota truck.
This is our first nite out heading back to the Pacific Ocean. Our Siberian Husky “Sargeant” is totally beside himself over our new home.
